Can anyone using IM at work explain why ppl will IM me w/ just “Hey” & nothing else until I respond? Why not, “Hey, had a question about X”?

This is just as bad as someone leaving me a voice mail saying, “Call me, I need to talk to you.” Useless waste of air, time & telephony resources. It bugs the fuck out of me because it is so mindless and inefficient. And the people that should know better are the worst offenders.
